- The Playful Pelican is located in Fort Morgan which is one of the quieter areas of the Alabama Gulf Coast. This two bedroom, two bath home is a mere two minute stroll to the sugar white beaches with no roads to cross and no traffic to negotiate. We strive to provide complete relaxation with comfort a high priority. The sand and surf await you!
Pet Friendly
- Well-behaved, house trained dogs (maximum two dogs) are allowed at the Playful Pelican.

Playful Pelican
- The Playful Pelican beach house is approximately 1,100 square feet.
- Two Bedrooms and two Bathrooms
- Sleeps eight (8), and features 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a spacious kitchen.
Kitchen
- Our kitchen is enormous and boasts brand new Whirlpool appliances.
- The kitchen table seats four, and there are four stools at the very large island.
- The open living room has a brand new beautiful sofa and loveseat that is very comfortable! Our guests have raved about them!
- We also have new tables in the living room.
- Blu-ray DVD player and a new 50" flat screen SMART HDTV with a complete package of Philo streaming service and LIVE TV for local channels. Other apps are available for guests that have subscriptions.
- We have high speed Internet service.
- There is also a full complement of books and board games available.
- The private Master bedroom offers a new king sized bed with all new bedding, mattress, and lamps.
- 42” flat screen HDTV, Blu-ray DVD player.
- There are also new bedside tables and chest of drawers, and a comfortable sitting area. It is a peaceful place to relax or read a good book.
- Full ensuite Master bathroom has been updated as well.
Bedroom 2
- The second bedroom which sleeps six (6), has a full over full bunk bed and a queen size bed.
- All the beds have new luxurious memory foam mattresses.
- Updated with fresh paint, new furniture, lamps and all new bedding.
- 50” flat screen SMART HDTV.
- New bedside table and tall chest of drawers.
Inside
- The Playful Pelican has been recently updated, freshly painted, and tastefully decorated throughout.
- It is very clean and comfortable and you will love the beachy decor.
- We have beautiful porcelain tile flooring throughout and all new 3-panel Craftsman style interior doors.
- There is also a new Maytag washer and dryer conveniently located in the hallway closet area.
- New stairs and deck railings have been recently installed and freshly painted.
- New doors and windows with new screens which allow for ample fresh, clean air offered up by the gulf breezes.
- Hardie siding was recently installed on the exterior and it has been freshly painted.
- The large covered porch has views of both the Gulf of Mexico and Mobile Bay - the perfect place to unwind after a great day at the beach.
- Located under the home is a new enclosed outdoor shower, outdoor sink, picnic table, Weber charcoal grill, sitting area with overhead decorative patio lights, and brand new concrete parking area.
- You will find several beach chairs, umbrellas, carts, games, toys, buckets, shovels, boogie boards, and some fishing nets, along with many other toys and other items in the storage shed which are available for our guests.
Cleaning
- The Playful Pelican has a 5 star professional cleaning company that cleans, sanitizes, and inspects our home. You will arrive to a clean house with fresh linens, bath towels, and a starter supply of toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap and other amenities. We also supply beach towels for your convenience.
The Surrounding Area
- The Playful Pelican is located just twenty minutes from Gulf Shores, and less than five minutes from the Mobile Bay Car Ferry, which offers year round service across the bay to Dauphin Island and Mobile, Alabama.
- Fort Morgan, unlike Gulf Shores, is known for less traffic, less noise, and fewer people on the beach – even during the peak summer season.
- Why spend your vacation packed in like a sardine when the Fort Morgan beaches offer a chance for real peace and quiet? Grocery stores and restaurants are just down the road.
- You may want to add a visit to Fort Morgan Historic State Park. It is adjacent to the ferry launch, and is approximately a mile from the Playful Pelican.
- The Gulf Shores Yacht Club and Marina is less than a mile away. You can rent boats or charter fishing trips. Speckled trout, white trout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, tripletail, bluefish, red snapper, pompano and king mackerel are common in the Gulf Shores area.

About the Owner
We live in northern Illinois and have four adult children; two daughters and two sons, two son-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, three granddaughters and three grandsons. Our children live in Illinois, and Colorado. We purchased the Playful Pelican with the dream of someday spending a lot of time in Gulf Shores. Over the years, we have vacationed at many resort style beach communities, but have not found a beach and community as nice as Gulf Shores.
